Billboard.com's Soundtrack to My Life

Billboard.com has this cool feature where you can put in the dates for significant events in your life and they'll give you a "soundtrack to your life" based off whatever song(s) were #1 on the charts.

I had to guess a lot of the dates but here's a rough estimate of the Soundtrack to Akili's Life...

The Day I Was Born: Mr. Misters, "Kyrie"
  • I had never heard of this song but I looked it up on Youtube. Classic cheesy 80s music at its best. I can imagine it as the rolling credits to a John Hughes film [RIP]. Love it. Makes me wanna go watch "The Breakfast Club" or "Some Kind of Wonderful"

When Was That First Memorable Kiss? Alicia Keys' "Fallin'"
  • My first kiss was with my first boyfriend in 10th grade [I was a late bloomer]. His name was Michael and he was actually the best boyfriend I ever had. Our breakup was very drama free--he went to college, I was in high school. We didn't play the "we'll-be-faithful" games. We kissed in the front seat of his Mom's surburban and while I love Alicia Keys. Michael Jackson's "Butterflies" was actually playing during my first kiss. [Swoon]
Got My Drivers' License: Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together"
  • Talk about being a late bloomer! I didn't learn to drive until I was in college. As a matter of fact, I got my license the summer in between freshman and sophomore year. "We Belong Together" was MC's comeback song and I remember blasting this song in my '99 Honda Accord that my 'rents bought me that summer. Good times. I might have to dig out "The Emancipation of Mimi"...
When Did I Graduate from Highschool? Usher's "Burn"
  • OMFG! I loooooooooooooooooooooooooved this song in high school. First off, the entire "Confessions" album was HOT! There was something sexy/bomb about Usher being a cheater [on Chili from TLC no less] and him laying it all out on a record. Loved it! My roommate from my senior year in high school was JMS and we listened to this song every night on repeat for like 3 months. I can still here those opening lines..."It's gonna burn for me to say this..."

Pretty good soundtrack, if I say so myself. That's a pretty cool feature for Billboard to have although I wish they had more major milestones for me to get the songs for...but oh well. If you wanna get the soundtrack to YOUR life go here.

UPDATE: Speaking of Soundtrack of my life, Maxwell's "This Woman's Work" is on and Frank feels the need to serenade me. In case you are wondering, the singing is HORRIBLE. This song of course reminds my of "Love & Basketball" and the loss-of-virginity-scene heard 'round the world. I commented how this scene actually terrified me when I first saw it because I realized that to lose one's virginity meant a significant amount of pain. Which sucks. Frank's reply? "I wouldn't know. I just plug & play..." Its hanging out with Frank that pushes me closer and closer to lesbianism.
