I'd Rather Be at Coachella

Jay-Z was the final act of the opening day of Coachella...based on the reviews I've read of the show he was beyond incredible. For his final song he performed one of my favorite songs off Blueprint 3 with Beyonce. Needless to say I would have LOOOOVED to be there.

Hope for Haiti

Last night the telethon in support of Haiti aired on like EVERY network. I've already donated $10 via text to the Red Cross and after last night I donated again to hopeforhaitinow.org. A lot of celebs came out to man the phones, share information about the disaster in Haiti and to perform. There were some INCREDIBLE performances last night. A few that stuck out were Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris [an artist on JT's Tennman Records whose kind of AMAZING] performing a soul-stirring version of "Hallelujah". Jennifer Hudson performed a cover of The Beatles' "Let It Be" and lastly my boo, Jay-Z, Bono and Rihanna performed the song "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)" a charity single in support of Haiti. There were other great performances, but these stuck out to me. All of the live performances will be available via an album, January 25 on iTunes. I definitely plan on purchasing it.

The death toll in Haiti has crossed 111,000 people. Search efforts for survivors have been called off. I read today on CNN.com that a mother gave her daughter urine in hopes of keeping her alive. If you haven't donated to the relief effort in Haiti, I urge you to do so...

Lil' Mama = Jay-Z's 100th Problem

First off, this was just an AMAZING performance by Jay-Z + Alicia Keys at the 2009 Video Music Awards. Empire State of Mind is one of my FAVORITE tracks off of Blueprint III and after seeing it performed live, I love it even more! Jay-Z knows how to end an awards show [one he didn't even attend, I might add]. Now, I don't know if J knew that Lil' Mama was going to make an appearance or if she just bopped her happy ass on stage because she's from Brooklyn, either way, I laughed my ass off for a good 10 minutes over this sh!t [it had all of twitter puzzled, too]...Enjoy this incredible performance and Lil' Mama's confusing cameo:

My Song of the Moment

My favorite blog to read belongs to my girlfriend from college Seshie. I like to read it because its very HER. Reading her blog very much so feels like a conversation we'd have in person. Its refreshing. Anywho, one of the things she blogs about are songs that have reached "five star status" on her playlist. I rarely take the time to rate songs on my iTunes playlist--maybe I should, but this song "So Ambitious" from Jay-Z's Blueprint III is quickly becoming one of my favorites...Maybe it will inspire me to keep my ass in the gym and head in the books (sigh)...
